Local SEO

Rank where homeowners
are searching.

Local SEO is the work that gets your business into the Google Map Pack and organic results when someone searches "plumber near me" or "roofer in [your city]." It is the foundation of every call you will ever get from Google.

What it is

Local SEO in plain language.

When a homeowner searches for a contractor, Google shows them two things: three businesses on a map (the "Map Pack") and a list of website results below. The businesses that show up are the ones that have done the work of being findable.

Local SEO is that work. It is not magic, it is not secret. It is consistent effort across three areas: your Google Business Profile, your website, and the mentions of your business across the internet (called citations).

The trades that treat Local SEO as a foundation beat the ones that only buy ads. Ads stop the minute you stop paying. Local SEO compounds.

What to expect

Honest results timeline.

Local SEO is not an overnight lever. These are the patterns we see across home service clients. Your specific market and competition will shift the exact timing.

Months 1-3

Foundation work. GBP optimized, citations cleaned up, service and city pages live on your site. You start showing up for low-competition searches. Rankings for the big keywords begin moving but are not yet in the top 3.

Months 3-6

Momentum. Map Pack rankings for your primary service in your primary city start hitting top 3. You see a measurable increase in calls from Google. Direction requests climb. Content on your site starts ranking for long-tail searches.

Months 6-12

Compounding. You are in the Map Pack for most of your services across most of your service area. Organic calls become a predictable channel. Cost per lead drops significantly vs. ads. Your rankings hold even when you reduce ad spend.

Pricing

Part of both monthly tiers

$500/mo starting

Local SEO work is included in both the Organic tier ($500/mo) and Full Service tier ($1,500/mo). GBP management, review generation, citation building, and rank tracking are all part of every monthly package.

Not sold standalone. Local SEO without GBP management and review generation underperforms, so it is bundled into both tiers. If you want deeper technical SEO and new city/service pages, the Site Upkeep + On-Site SEO add-on (+$600/mo) covers that on top of either tier.

Common questions

Questions before we talk.

How is Local SEO different from regular SEO?

Regular SEO tries to rank a website globally. Local SEO tries to rank a business in a specific geographic area for searches that have local intent (like "plumber near me"). The techniques overlap but the goals and ranking factors are different. For home service businesses, Local SEO is what matters.

Do I need to write blog posts for Local SEO?

Not necessarily. Blog content helps for long-tail searches (like "how much does a water heater replacement cost in Phoenix") but it is not required to rank in the Map Pack. Most home service businesses get 80% of their SEO results from GBP optimization, citations, and well-structured service and city pages β€” no blog required.

What if I already have a Google Business Profile?

Most businesses do, and most have never fully optimized it. We start with an audit. Categories are often wrong, photos are missing or low quality, service areas are set incorrectly, attributes are not filled in, and no one is posting or responding to Q&A. The difference between a half-optimized GBP and a fully optimized one is substantial.

How does this work with Google Ads or LSA?

Local SEO and paid ads work together. SEO gets you the calls that would not go through ads. Ads get you immediate visibility while SEO is building. Most clients run both. The goal is that over 6-12 months your SEO gets strong enough that your ad spend becomes optional, not required.

Can you guarantee #1 rankings?

No. Anyone who guarantees rankings in Local SEO is either inexperienced or dishonest. Google controls the algorithm, ranking factors shift, and your competition is also trying to rank. What we can guarantee is that the work gets done, the rankings get tracked transparently, and you see exactly where you stand every month.
